Adding crucial RAM to new Power Mac
hey guys,
great forum, this is my first post.
I am planning on purchasing one of the new Power Mac's today (probably the 2.7) since I'm eligible for an Edu discount for another month. Obviously I don't want to pay Apple's RAM prices, but does it invalidate the warrenty if I install my own? I couldn't find anything on the Apple site about this.
Thanks,
VTerm

Nope. On the PowerMacs the RAM is easily user-upgradeable and installing additional RAM does not affect the warranty.
First off, I'd recommend crucial over any other brand for Powermac memory. Just the basic stuff will work great.
Second off, If anything does go wrong with your apple, the first thing apple will do is pull third party ram and verify if that is the cause. If it isn't, they go on from there to fix it. It doesn't void the warranty at all
thanks for the welcome emig, this is my first Mac for about 10 years (last was an old IIfx!) and I am over the moon.
