How do you adjust the Bong sound in Panther?

Every time I boot up from a restart, the "bong" noise is really loud, even when my volume is low or off on the speakers...is there a way to adjust just the volume on this sound?

    if your speakers are plugged in and off but you're still hearing the bong sound, you are witnessing a sonic miracle.

    Dude. You're listening to way too much cyprus.



    This thread has a bunch of suggestions, including pushing mute at startup.



    But does what you hear at startup sound like this?



    or like this? (This one's really a classic for any Mac fan!)
