Wireless or Wired?

I was about to buy the mx1000 today for my PowerBook, but I thought I'd post on here first.

Does anyone use a wireless mouse for their laptop? My main concern is that when I pack it up to move it, the mouse will still be on - using battery - unless I take the batteries out every time I pack it. If that's the only way around the problem, I'd rather go wired.

What do you think?

I have an MX1000 for my PowerMac. It's a great mouse, but it requires a large charging stand/transmitter and I'd never want to have to haul it and the mouse around with my PowerBook. The charging stand/transmitter is at least as large as the mouse itself, and not compact at all.

A bluetooth mouse would be a much less clunky solution for a PowerBook. The benefits of the MX1000 over the MX900 are not nearly important enough to justify the downsides for portable use.

That said, there is an on/off switch on the bottom of the thing.

i have the regular apple wireless mouse, and occasionally ill forget to turn it off, but i wanted to see how long it would last if i left it on 24/7 and it went a good 2-2.5monts or so before i had to change the battery.. which prolly doesnt seem very long but it works fine for me and ive just been making it a point for me to remember to turn it off i iknow wont be around the computer for a while
