Future iPod drive thicknesses
I am quite happy with my iPod mini and have decided that I'll probably get a 5th gen iPod if it floats my boat, and the back scratches less easily. I do like the size of my mini however, and don't want something huge.
Whilst I know that you can't get a 30gb iPod to be the size of a mini for years yet, I was wondering if any drives have come out recently that mean the next gen 30gb iPod might be a little lighter/thinner than the current model. Thoughts?

Well the current 30GB iPod is already a single platter device so if it shrinks it's going to come from the other componentry.
Would it be fair to say that this article means we could potentially see a 40Gb iPod for the same size as the current 30Gb, and an 80Gb for the same size as the current 60Gb?

Yep. Depending on prices I'd almost count on it some time down the line.
