Hard disc icon moved automatically?

Hi,



Mac Mini, 1.25 gigs, 256 megs, 40 gigs, OS X 10.3.9.



Sometimes when I log in, I find that the "Macintosh HD" icon which is usually at the top right of the screen, is suddenly at the botton right instead. I log out and log in again, it is still in the bottom right. Of course I am able to drag it again to the top right, but does anyone know why this happens?



I tried to repair permissions, but that does not solve the problem.



And as usually happens with me, this problem does not seem to have a pattern to it. I have not installed anything new since the last time I used the machine, I have not played around with any settings, in fact I have not even logged out. I only switched users to my wife's login, and she does not play around either.



This is not the first time it has happened, but I would like to know why it happens.



Does this happen to anyone else or is this again a problem unique to me?

    it happens to me to know, since i updated to 10.3.9.



    anyone know if this is just a bug in the update?

    Do yourself a favor...drag the HD icon to the right side of the dock, and then remove seeing the HD period on the desktop in your finder preference. Okay maybe not a good fix for you, but man that desktop sure is pretty clean, and look the HD icon looks good in the dock.
