anyone miss the activity indicator that used to show when mail was being checked for or sent out? not the activity monitor which is a separate window, just the little indicator on the main window. not sure why they would get rid of this. at least before u had a way of visually knowing that the program was actively doing something . now i just sit there and have to assume 'get mail' is actually getting mail. seems like a good idea was thrown out and doenst make sense why it would be.

    I believe Mail 2.0 tries to shoehorn all of those status indicators into the new sidebar, beside each mailbox ... but, agreed, the status bar should be available an option. I'd be surprised (and disappointed) if it doesn't return in a .x.x update.
