1080p PS3 question
I've read that the PS3 will have 1080p output. I was checking online for some
tv's that actually take advantage of that. I found a couple of Samsung DLP &
Toshiba TV's that are not out yet. The only problem is that I heard that the
highest video source they can handle is 1080i which would then be converted
up to 1080p.
Does anyone know of any tv's that can accept a 1080p source? It would be
nice if Sony released a 50" 1080p DLP television that also has a cell chip when
the PS3 is launched.
Can't the PS3 take advantage of that extra cell chip as well?

I read that Sony & IBM planned on using it for other products besides the PS3.
And I remember a story about how the the PS3 could access cell chips in other
devices (tv's, dvr's, etc.) in a distributed setting to get even more detailed
rendering. It could have been a rumor story though. It was a long time ago
that I read that.
I own one - it is a used Electrohome projector I bought on Ebay for $1400.
Scan rate for my projector (Marquee 8500) maxes out at 152KHz - which is good enough for 1080p. Refresh rate and maximum ANSI vs maximum NTSC pixel counts I am not so sure about.
I know that the projector up from mine (the Marquee 9500LC) will display 1080p for sure - my projector I will see about when I get the PS3.

Lots of people were perplexed by Sony's 1080p claim. There are no TVs yet with 1080p.
Sure there is.

Sony Qualia 006 playsback 1080p but doesn't accept it yet(firmware update coming) go figure.
Luckily you will start seeing a huge rush of 1080p screens in the market for the all important Xmas buying frenzy.
I heard reports that 1080p looks great as it should

Most major manufacturers run the image through an image processor to enhance the image. Cell would actually be very good for that sort of task and Toshiba is already planning a tv with Cell for just that.
True 1080P will come from LCD with no Wobulation. I've heard the Wobulation looks pretty good but the picture is softened just a bit with this process.
