PB Ti Superdrive failed?

The superdrive on my 1GHz G4 Ti PB, (OSX 10.4.1) no longer recognises any discs at all. DVD's and CD's are all ejected (blanks, burned and commercial ones). I've changed nothing on my system since it was working this morning. Did install QT 7.0.1 yesterday but it was working subsequently so I don?t see any connection there.



Unplugged all firewire and USB devices, repaired permissions, restarted etc. No joy.



Is this now an ex-drive, pushing up daisies, or is there anything I can do to resurrect it?
