Roz Ho "Future Exchange Features"

Posted:
in Mac Software edited January 2014
Notice that at the WWDC keynote today Roz mentioned that cool new Exchange features are coming to the Mac. BUT: She said the new features are coming to "Tiger". She didnt specify Entourage. She said "Tiger". Hmmm. What does that mean?

No, I think it just means an update to take use of spotlight, etc.

She's just not a very good public speaker. No charisma for sure. I shuddered in pain the last time Steve had her own stage, and I did so this time as well.

She meant the Exchange features that MS announced in January. They are supposed to be released in the second half of this year.

Does anybody actually know when the next version of Office is due?

The Mac and Windows versions typically leapfrog each other.

But the next Office for Windows is out late next year in tandem with Longhorn.

That means we could be stuck with Office 2004 until 2007, right at the end of the Intel transition.

I just find it so fucking odd, that MS is so cool about this. They have to be erked.

The only reason I see them going along with this is:

    a) Not supporting this would piss off Intel more than Apple

    b) Fear of mistepping with the antitrust stench still in the air.

    c) Desperate need for money from upgrades people will buy.

    d) Jobs has black mail photos of Ballmer and Gates bunging each other.

Um, what did you have against Roz? Maybe English isn't her first language?

And besides, it's not like she was speaking with a drunken slur like Adobe CEO Bruce Chizen. He could stand to lose a few pounds too.

Why should they have a problem with it? They abandoned Intel for the Cell chip.

I really don't see why MS would have a huge problem with it. Apple's not a high volume competitor, and Redmond has much bigger things to worry about.

I wouldnt agree that Roz Ho is not smart. You dont get where she is by being stupid. Although, I don't think she has good public speaking skills. She seemed kind of monotone repeating her monolog about ms office. Everything just sounded to scripted.

She did a bad job. I don't remember her from other keynotes, but maybe I'm trying to block her out.

oh good god how the hell can't you remember her? It literally HURT ME to listen to her speak. It was like watching someone stab a baby with a broken bottle.

I think she might have some kind of speaking disorder. Obviously though she has to be intelligent.

When you have Roz Ho and Steve Jobs talking within a minute of each other, somebody is going to look bad.

Theo from Wolfram Research was awesome. Absolutely hilarious.

She is a pretty bad speaker by the standards of what you usually see on stage. However, if you took people at random off the street and asked them to stand up in front of a few thousand people, she would probably be in the top 10%.
