G5-class Powerbook: not happening -- ever

With the Intel switch now a sure thing, it's obvious why Powerbook 7,1 and Powerbook 7,2 disappeared from OS X. The project was obviously cancelled. So if you want a really fast Powerbook, it looks like next summer will be your best bet, with a Powerbook based on Yonah likely to appear. Before Apple phases out the Powerbook G4, I expect it to be updated with Motorola's MPC7448, maybe two revisions, and that's it. The 7448 is a drop-in replacement, and, with a little tweaking, the Powerbook's bus speed might be raised to 200Mhz.

SJ was clear in his keynote, IBM failed to produce a G5 that could be used in a laptop.

There is plenty others threads relating this fact.

Sorry but this one is closed.
