do you think that more apps will be posted to macos X when Apple starts shipping Intel based machines?
Not unless apple starts gaining market share. The porting job is still the same (from windows), so porting a windows app still has the same cost involved with it. But if intel macs can make apples market share grow, then more apps will be ported to the mac.
I think it would be a good idea to have universal binaries out well in advance to the actual release of the Intel-based Macs. That way there's security in purchasing current software titles. I recently held of on buying some PPC-compiled software, simply because I wasn't confident in the long-term investment. Will they have a send-in program? Or will I have to repurchase the software? There's no clear answer.
yes, and good developers will have universal binary before intel mac shipments.
I wonder about that, a lot of smaller developers (think ipodderx, pithhelmet, VNC, VLC and other free/donation/try-buy-ware) may have universal binaries but without intel testware ($999 and adc select is a little steep) how do they know that those bins work untill the intel boxes come out, I beleive apple when the compiler says it is good to go but I wouldnt release anything without extencive testing.

trade in: yes, maybe
Adobe will let you trade current versions win-for-mac, or mac-for-win I assume they will allow ppc only->univ. binaries
