My Dad has a Roland keyboard with synthesizer and wants to record his music to CD.
Can I do this with a mac (got a B&W G3 and G4).
Yes, you can (and if you let us know what OS version, CPU speeds and how much RAM you have, people will be able to list which software might work best for you).

Do I have to buya sound card with speacial input.
The Roland has midi in andout jacks.
If he wants to recored his music to CD he will need to hook up the keyboard using it's audio outs into an a/d converter. If he wants to sequence his music on the mac he would needs a midi interface.
If you let me know exactly what equipment he has I can give you a more specific answer.

Keyboard has midi in, out and thru?. Don't know what thru is.
Has a synthesizer as well but he doesn't know how to use it.
Couldn't I get a sound cards/or usb/midi cable to hook the keyboard to the mac. How does he record a piece he has played?
Would he need to buy software. He just wants to record (to CD) what he plays.
Dobby.
Edit. I have gargeband. Can that do this?
Super.
