hi all,

just looking though eBay and especially at CPU upgrades for G3s.... i was wondering why upgrading G3s isn't that common? I know the upgrade chips are insanely expensive normally, but there's a few on eBay that aren't that pricey.

And i only base my assumption that it isnt common practise on the fact that no 2nd-hand Macs seem to have been upgraded!

-that's all

    It's not so uncommon. I have upgraded my B&W G3 350 to a G4 550 once.

The problem with many CPU upgrade in the Mac's world, is that as you mentionned it, the price are insanely great.

Most of the time, it cost less, to sell your old mac, and buy a new one, than making a CPU upgrade.

But for some people, like G4 cube owners, the CPU upgrade are a common practice. Some have even upgraded their cube to a dual G4 7447 computer.
