Is it just me or has there just been absolutely no talk from Apple about when they are going to release those supposed "Special widgets for .Mac subscribers"?

Or have they released them and I just haven't noticed?

I mentioned this same thing somewhere the other day. The mention of them just completely disappeared from the .Mac front page. I think they pushed this back since there was the overwhelming flood of widgets from others out in the Mac world.

I think Apple has just forgotten about .Mac in general.

Why this new mac guy didnt get dot mac after the 60 days:

*250 mb for email and files when Google gives me a gig for free as does Yahoo

*backup: This is why I have a burner and another reason for gmail

*bookmark syncing: to my knoledge it doesnt work with windows, I only have one Mac.

*web hosting: what are the limits, will Apple cut me off if say a video would get /.ed? if the bandwidth is truly unlimited, why havn't more people piled onto the bandwaggon just for that?

*adress book: Gmail and the good ole cell phone.

*subscription to version tracker was tempting but the free side has never let me down

*iCards?!? I htought that sorta thing died in the .com bust! ~2000 is the last time I remember seeing anything like it...

.Mac sync alone is worth it to me ... but I do admit 250mb is pathetic, along with what has become pretty poor service.

I'm hoping to see something big announced before my year is up, or I won't renew either.

How about Backup 3, which has been talked about for a fair few months. Some of the head .Mac people came to the London Apple Store and when asked what new features, the answer sounded assuringly like we'd be seeing new features soon. That was in January if I recall correctly.

I am an Apple sucker so I will probably keep buying .Mac but i agree more needs offered.

They should make a gig standard perhaps 2 and allow upgare to 10 gigs.

Also so cool new thing should be part of it. perhaps discounts on upgade software like new oses etc.

But better yet something really cool I can't think of but Steve and gang can.

I don't mind .Mac. Just wish Apple would put a little more energy into it. Throw out a few more perks.

If Backup 3 doesn't backup applications, I won't use it. Super Duper probably does everything just as easily now that might be included in B3 and it clones my drive.

I just wish they would improve its speed. I don't know about any of you, but the Finder is very slow when it comes to syncing with iDisk. Also, iPhoto takes a while to upload images to my homepage photo albums.

.Mac is the single Apple product that I feel completely neutral about.

Synching among all my Macs is what keeps me on as a .Mac subscriber. It's really convenient for me to have my Addresses, Calendar, ToDos, and Bookmarks automatically updated as I make a change on one of my Macs.

More .Mac storage space would be nice, but not critical. I only save important files there, since there's really not enough room for application updaters, photos, or music. I would like to see the minimum increased to 500MB, though.

I use .Mac and do feel there is a need to significantly increase the capacity available for back ups.

It is, however, worth it to have the backup, syncing and email available at about $8 per month. I throw in a few picture albums and movies (hey, I'm a grandfather - I'm allowed) and it's something I can live with.

The important thing for a lot of people is to have an off site backup and far too few do.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Unlike gmail however, if they bump the disk space I'll definitely use most of it with my iDisk.
