Hi guys, Im quite desperate to get a mac, but seeing that my funds are not up to new G5 powermac standards, I thought that a second hand G4 might be the answer.

A mini would be within my price range, but im shying away from it because it doesnt support monitor spanning. (I have 2 19" lcd screens, and would hate to have to go back to one)

The particular model Im looking at is the 733mhz quicksilver.

A) How easy would it be to upgrade the ram?

B) What kind of ram do I need to look for?

C) How hard is it to find a decent video card to go in this machine?

Thanks

T

If you are in NZ, MagnumMac sells preloved machines, and might even install what you need for you as well (at a cost of course)

Well, I might have one I could sell you.... In NZ the best place to get a second hand Mac is Trademe, the quicksilver is fine but the 733Mhz model is a dog, get one with L3 cache or not at all. Cant buy new graphics cards for G4 powermacs in NZ, best to go with OWC, they ship to NZ pretty cheaply. The only modern card worth having is the Radeon 9800 Pro, which they sell. If interested PM me about my mac (Digital Audio G4 with Quicksilver 867Mhz/2Mb L3 G4, 512Mb, 80Gb, 16x Superdrive, Radeon 7500 Gfx, 10.4.2)

Sorry to answer your question you need PC133 SD Ram its about $130 for 512Mb, buy it at any PC store.
