So my sister got a new G5 and gave me her G4 but kept her monitor so I need to buy one. I don't want to sepnd 800+ on a cinema display, but like 200 or so on a 17 inch flat screen. My question is what kind of connection does this particular model have monitor wise? Is it DVI or what? This is the first mac I have had personally since an LC II back in the day so I am pretty new. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All G4s should support VGA and almost all should support DVI. Technically, it's the graphics card and not the computer which defines if it has DVI support. Some apple machines also shipped with a connector known as ADC (apple display connector). You can buy an adapter for 20 bucks or less that will convert ADC from the computer into DVI. The same is true for converting DVI from the computer into VGA for a display.

Where'd my diagram of the three plugs go? Oh well, this will have to do:

A picture of an ADC connection:
