Adobe GoLive 6.0
Anybody who was on the GoLive Beta - is it possible you can tell us about your experiences, unless you are still bound by a NDA. In particular, do your old third party actions still work? Are there any more native actions from adobe? Does the code work fine with NN6/Mozilla? Has some of the bloated rollover code been reduced? Does it crash less? How easy is it to work with databases with GL6?

I am too. But I fear PHP "integation" only means it will accept php code inside GoLive documents rather than aid in forming the syntax. The same would of course be true for MySQL calls within PHP. Adobe's not been very forthcoming with information about this on their web site. It's mildly annoying actually.
GoLive already has to be able to do this right? I've been using Dreamweaver 4, and you just use the split screen option thingy, and you can do the hard coding up top with it generally implementing much of in in the preview pane. The way they have pushed this even a little bit, I have to assume that it will be better integrated than this.
Assumptions lead to disappointments far to often in the computer world, though.

I've always heard this about GoLive and this is my main reason for sticking with Dreamweaver!

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, this app is as easy to use as Quark, and produces the cleanest code in the business - and yet very few people ever talk about it.
This is one of those few Mac only apps that make me proud to be a Mac user - yep, I think it's that awesome!! And no - I don't work for them, just a very satisfied customer :-)

You think QuarkXpress is easy to use?
So I wasted 3 semesters in design school on it?
pretty poor port IMO. And its because they need to support OS 9 as well. Until developers can realistically drop OS 9 support we won't see good OS X versions of apps. MS dropped OS 9 support and Office is very good.
GoLive 6 in X felt "bloated" and just unfinished. I know its a beta but it was that. it just didn't have the OSX feel ya know?

That is a good one man! Seriously that must be one cool app. After using Quark since the mid 90's I STILL can't tell you all there is to know about it... I'll make it a point to skip the rest of my Quark classes... since it's so easy.

<strong>There's something I don't understand. We mac users have this wonderful wysiwyg webdesign app called Freeway. It's currently at version 3.1, and later this month version 3.5 will be released, which will run natively in OS X.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, this app is as easy to use as Quark, and produces the cleanest code in the business - and yet very few people ever talk about it.
This is one of those few Mac only apps that make me proud to be a Mac user - yep, I think it's that awesome!! And no - I don't work for them, just a very satisfied customer :-)

Once version 3.5 for OS X comes out I'm definitely going to check this app out! It looks like it does everything I need without being cluttered and overly-complicated with weird features I'll never use. Thanks for letting us know about it!

As for GoLive 6 and crappy code, what are you guys saying - that it STILL doesn't create W3C compliant code, or more that it just nests / organizes things in an inefficient way? I have a hard time believing at this juncture that either DW or GL has serious code issues. What gives? Does GL 6 code better for some browsers than others?

Laugh all you will of what I think of Quark, but don't knock Freeway until you've given it a try.
I sincerely feel Freeway is a seriously underrated webdesign app. Many a time I've showed people just what it is capable of, resulting every time in serious jaw dropping.
Not only that, the customer support is second to none (yes, they personally reply to your every question - usually within 24 hrs). Plus there is a lively email discussion forum that can answer your every question, and can come up with answers to just about every problem.
I'm not trying to convince you this is the only web design app worthy of using (that would be plain silly) - I'm just asking you to have an open mind, and try something that (in my humble opinion) is really very, very good.
NOTHING beats a text editor and a strong knowledge of HTML
