Firefox G5 Builds
A fellow mac user has been releasing optimized compiles of Firefox for the G5. Anyone try 'em or use 'em exclusively?
I've used them off and on myself. In the end though, I tend to switch back to the main Firefox builds for my Firefox needs. I use Safari as my main browser and Firefox as an alternate and for testing. I don't like the custom interface elements used in the G5 version, as it tends to break some pages layouts. It seems a little faster, but I don't think its worth maintaining another application for.
What about you?

elfurbe provides G3, G4 and G5 optimized daily Firefox builds based on the latest developmental code for the next version of Firefox.
drumsticks (that's me) also spins another version of the G5 optimized daily Firefox builds using different compiler optimization options.
It's generally recommended that regular consumers use the optimized release version 1.0.x, while if you are interested in helping to test out the new features of Firefox 1.5, you can download the daily builds, which may be buggy and unstable, depending on which daily build you got.
As I build them, I use it exclusively. I don't use Safari at all. I prefer to superior fine grain control of Firefox. Apple tends to abstract out a lot of complexity away from their software. And the cost of simplicity is customizability. I prefer the customizability.

I started using it with the 1.0.5 version. I do not use it exclusively, but I have had no problems at all when it when I use it. I do not really notice any speed differences.
I tend to use Safari as my main browser. I use Firefox when blogging, because the WYSIWYG editor on my blog site does not work with Safari.
Any advice or tips for building it myself?

Thanks drumsticks for posting your builds. I'm thinking of building it myself so I get the compiler optimizations but not the "pretty" widgets. I want the standard, ugly Mozilla widgets. Go figure.

http://www.mozilla.org/build has all the build instructions you need. If you run into problems, ask at Mozillazine to third party builders. Just be careful that some combinations of firefox version/xcode version do not work. Good luck!
