WindowsMedia in OSX

I have not used any MS Office for OSX or any other Aquafied MS products and so maybe I'm late to this, but as I looked at the WindowsMedia screen shots it hit me as very strange to see how Apple-looking it all is.

The Aqua skin on Windows makes you start to wonder, who is influensing whom? I know this only will be seen by Mac users but still, will this submergence into Aqua somehow infect the MS-ites. I didn't realize until now how strange it would be for MS engineers to have to work on an Aqua look. Maybe its just another skin to them, but you have to wonder.

Also, how much did Apple have to disclose to MS to let them copy Aqua. I know this is just superficial stuff, but it seems more significant to me than what I first realised.

    Interesting addendum...

If you go to <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.asp"; target="_blank">http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.asp</a>, you'll see that the 'aqua' IE icon from the mac version of IE has been adopted by the windows version! As much as I hate windoze, I have to hand it to MS's Mac division, their mac products are almost universally better than their windoze counterparts!

And that pretty much explains the entire look of XP. Aqua with a few more Teletubbie colors with the saturation pushed way up.

I like the fact that I now have an OS X player, and when it works, it's great. But I often get a message " this codec is not supported" when trying to play a file. seems odd that the same file/URL will play on WMP7 under classic, but won't play on thier brand new OSX player.

... if i could get all this OSX stuff to work, i'd never use Classic (it's painfully slow on a 266-G3)

Or, at least, it's supposed to. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> The only avi files I've had success with are those encoded in DivX. I can use the qtffmpeg.component to watch DivX movies in X. Otherwise, I'm stuck booting up VirtualPC. Ugh.

The icons for XP were made by a bunch of Mac users... <a href="http://www.iconfactory.com"; target="_blank">www.iconfactory.com</a>

    Go figure, eh?

I wouldnt be surprised if they made the icons for Explorer, etc
