Do you think that spotlight will replace the finder for 10.5?? I like a 1000 times better the spotlight GUI than the finder one...

I wonder how apple will incorporate Indexing for network folders. I guess about future uses of Spotlight.

will .mac backup will incorporate backuping features via spotlight.

by the way, spotlight is a 1e9 cooler than the MS Vista explorer

while i'm sure it could replace the Finder, i highly doubt it would ever happen. It wouldn't be too hard to keep including the finder since it is already there but to expect all mac users to stop using it...i don't think so.

Plus. it is good to be able to see things that you didn;t know/forgot existed. If i have my "Junk Drawer" folder, i need to see what is in there to clean it out once in a while

Steve made a comment at one of the keynotes that search could (would?) eventually replace the old way of finding things, so maybe they really will phase it out of the OS over the next 10 years.

What I really wish they would do is improve the Finder to make it more like the BeOS Tracker, which was able to display/organize files based on fields of user-configurable metadata.
