If you hide it, save your document, and then close the document, whenever you reopen it the "layout bar" will stay hidden. I don't know if there's a permanent way to disable it, however.
How can I disable this "layout bar" in Runtime solution (FileMaker 7)? I can only hide this every time
First create a script called "open". Then select "show/hide status area" script in scriptmaker.
Go to file menu. Under file menu select FILE OPTIONS. Then on the OPEN\\CLOSE tab select " open" script in perform script drop down. You can force it to close the status area on close of file. Never done a runtime solution but this works for me when I want to hide this from users who would be utterly confused by it.
