wmv safari, slow

Hi there!

I own a Powerbook G4 12", 1.5 ghz, 1.25 gb memory. MacOS 10.4.2.

When I play WMV files inside Safari, they play slower and slower as time

progresses. Others play okay.

It seems as the Microsoft port of WMV player is very slow (probably

on purpose). Is there a way to for example let VLC play my WMV's inside

Safari?

Thank you.

What do you mean by "slower and slower"? Are your 24 fps videos dropping to 20 fps or 15? Is your download progress bar slowing down? It is dropping frames? What? It would be very useful to give us a link to these videos so that we can test them for ourselves.

Sounds like the problem I experience when trying to watch wmv files. Sometimes the viewer will stop part way through a file. My impression is that MS intentionally did this for Mac versions.

Yes I see the same thing. Go to putfile.com and try some of their top 10 videos. A lot of them play slower and slower in WMP and finally just freeze, always at the exact same spot.

My best guess about putfile.com is that the site has server issues. They seem to be doing the best they can to increase their bandwidth as quickly as possible. However, there are limits. It isn't always about you.

I don't think Putfile is the problem.

ThinkingDifferent says exactly what I am experiencing.

I believe M$ made the port shitty on purpose.

I've never been to putfile but I've experienced the problem at multiple other sites.
