Mighty Mouse design philosophy in PowerBook?

Think we'll see the Mighty Mouse design philosophy integrated into the next or an upcoming PowerBook? (ie, a trackpad button that physically *appears* to be one button, that by default acts as one button, but which actually contains touch sensors that will allow it to be configured to act as two separate buttons.) Do you think this would be desirable?

Personally, I think this would work well and would like to see it happen. The control + button for "right click" on the portables is cumbersome. I was skeptical, but the left/right thing works well on the Mighty Mouse.

I'd take two regular buttons. Better feel, better response.

I'd actually prefer two separate buttons as well. But since Apple has thus far refused to go this route, I would consider a Might Mouse-like approach to be an acceptable compromise.

SideTrack allows for 4 corner buttons and two scroll sides (horizontal and vertical). I find it most useful.

    better:

while holding down the one button currently on the powerbook simply allow a tap on the trackpad to initiate a control menu.

I like this idea, but it leads me to another thought. Since the trackpad can now sense two fingers (eg, two-finger scrolling), maybe this could be incorporated wholly into the trackpad: Tap trackpad once to click. Or while holding a finger on trackpad, tap with second finger (either to the left or right) to bring up the secondary menu.

I've known about SideTrack but never gave it a try. Might be time to...

weird enough i prefer one button on my powerbook, and use two mouse buttons when i connect a mouse....i find two trackpad buttons confusing and easily "mis pressed".

What about tap trackpad to indicate button two? At least as an option to us who don´t use tap trackpad today.
