UPS and Mac

I'm getting ready to purchase an iMac G5. I've used Uninterruptable Power Supplies with PCs many years before, but since my first Mac was a Powerbook, I've never dealt with a UPS on a Mac.

Assuming I buy an APC unit, does OS X have a UPS-aware system preferences panel or is there software that can be optionally installed? I had assumed that most UPS units probably came without Mac-specific software, so maybe OS X has it built-in. Anyone mind posting images?

OS X will detect many UPS's. I have a APC Back-UPS XS 1500 on my G5 and a CS 320 on my G3. Works like a charm. OS X just adds a tab in the Energy saver control panel.

APC has software you can install, but Apple's is built into the OS so I trust it more. Personal preference, but I have nothing against the supplied software.

Cool! Is there a list of which UPS models are supported by Mac OS X anywhere? I'm considering the APC Back-UPS ES series. Apple's site?

I didn't find anything on compatibility, but one of mine seems to qualify for a recall. I'll be doing that right away...
