Problems with Maxtor & Lacie External HDDs
Hi All,
Can anyone offer any help please! I have two Maxtor OneTouch 300Gb FW drives. Both have worked well for the past 10 months.
Two days ago, I added a Lacie d2 drive (a colleague had sent 50Gb+ data over on it). It was plugged in on the Firewire port and works fine.
However, since I plugged that in, the Maxtor drives will mount, then after 30 seconds or so, remove themselves (but not power down). Mac OSX 10.3.9 tells me I've removed the drive the wrong way, when I haven't done anything!!!
The contents of the drives seem to be ok, but I can't read or write to either of them - as soon as I try to do so, they unmount themselves. I've tried taking the Lacie d2 out of the system (i.e. powering down, unplugging it and powering back up) but the Maxtor's are still the same. Once they've unmounted they can't be remounted, without switching the power to the drive off and on again.
Any idea's and suggestions of help would be gratefully apprecaited.
Regards
Richard

Problem is still there, but have discovered today that when the Maxtor drivers are plugged into USB, they mount and work fine - its just firewire that has the prob.
Anybody any thoughts?
Cheers
