Do you burn movies with your laptop?

Just wondering those who have a Superdrive in their 'books if they actually use it to burn movies.

I'm thinking the horsepower would be somewhat limited and if encoding movies should be done using G5's only.

Looking at a laptop and struggling with whether or not a combo drive/external superdrive would be the better route.

My friend does with her PowerBook. It takes a while, though. (I think she uses an external DVD- writer)

I use my powerbook to burn, It does take time but it does so reliably...I have encoded alot on my mac mini too, the g5 does'nt do it better, just faster so patience is a virtue

I made a 30min video using iMovie and burned it to DVD using my PowerBook. The worst bit really is editing as it's tedious to edit together 30mins from 20-40second clips. You get there in the end and once it's saved, it only requires you to burn it and wait, go have a cup of tea or watch telly.

I was wondering this same thing tonight. I am thinking about selling my Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop and purchasing a Powerbook. I have a Power Mac with a 16x SuperDrive, so I am not sure if it would be worth having the SuperDrive in the laptop. I could save $150 and use that savings to get extra RAM.

i do most of my work on my G5, but my powerbook can do an acceptable job for small projects or as a last resort. the biggest problem i have with video production on a laptop is screen real estate.

I would if my PowerBook was still alive.

I bought an EyeTV 200 a couple of weeks ago and it rocks.

I click once to record a show then click again to burn to DVD (use my G5 now).

    It integrates perfectly with Toast.

If you need TiVo for your Mac and you have a SuperDrive - go to ElGato!

All you need is a bit of cash and a lot of HD space.
