To iPod mini or not to iPod mini...
I'm buying a new iMac and would like some advice of whether to take advantage of the iPod mini rebate for students or not.
I love CDs. Always have and probably always will. I've played around with internet music, but since classical is the genre I love, it doesn't really cut it for me. I've never had an iPod and have never really seen the need for one. BUT - now I can get one for free with my new workstation and I've at least had to consider it.
Are there any other people out there who have an iPod but don't *really* use it? I mean, I doubt I would ever bring more than 50-100 tracks with me on a trip or I could just keep bringing my portable CD player as I have been for the last number of years. But, I do know the iPod can store contacts and calendar info as well... maybe I would use that feature. Hmm...
Do the minis scratch easily?
General opinions and advice would be helpful. Thanks!

a couple of years ago, i bought a 128mb mp3 flash drive thingy which i never really used, the controls were to fidely, and it couldnt hold enough songs.
Earlier this year i decided to buy an ipod mini. Now before i didnt really listen to much music apart from on my computer, but now i have music just about everywhere, so my advice would be to go for it. If you find you dont use it much, you can always sell it on.
The minis dont scratch (well mine didnt) but i did have a case, but i think they are more scratch resistant in general, as they have a matt type finish rather than a stainless steel shine.
hope i have been some help

edited for some pretty shocking spelling mistakes
since getting my ipod (and using iTunes) i seem to WANT music where ever i go, its an amazing turn around for me... im VERY happy at being able to carry around 300 odd CDs worth in somthing only slightly larger than a cassette!
i love Rock (since forever) and Electronic music (a recent discovery!) but Classical is a great passion, as i can just put it on shuffle and enjoy.
i SERIOUSLY doubt if i would be getting a single percent of the pleasure offered by this music without my ipod.
(admitedly its the 60Gb photo so theres LOTS of room in it
dont forget pod casts if you have broadband and do alot of traveling! there are some great options.
its for FREE right?
whats to consider
except, DUMP the earbuds ASAP and invest in a good pair of sony EXL, EXP 70 somthings.. cant remember the numbers exactly, but ive had my pair for about 4/5 years (used to use them with a minidisc now and then) they STILL sound great and 'touch wood' seem to be indestructable
sorry if this sounds like a sales pitch... i just havent posted here about how HAPPY i am that i bought the ipod.... i think my first post was asking a similar question to you!
good luck and enjoy the music
Rod
I appreciate the advice!
