A bit of buying advice please

Hey,

SO far I have been a core windows/linux user and I am looking to move to the more professional apple line of computers.

I would preferably like to get an apple laptop because I live in 2 places however I don't want to go out and by a powerbook if there's going to be a new laptop in the next year.

Is there any ideas or rumours about the next apple laptop? I'm guessing they won't release a G5 before the intel line comes in.

Is it worth my buying a powerbook now or should I wait for the next line?

Thanks in advanced!

Point is no one knows, because apple doesn't tell us things like that, but quite likely intel "powerbooks" are coming eventually. It's allways the same with computers the next goodie is allways just around the corner so if you keep on waiting you'll never buy anything.

If you have the money, I would suggest picking up a used iBook and using it to get acclimated to OS X. Then, when the Intel based PowerBooks eventually come out you'll be ready to upgrade to one. IMHO the current PowerBook line is tremedously under-powered and much to expensive for what it is. There may be a PowerBook update soon but even so, I'd recommend waiting to get an Intel PowerBook.
