Ram can go bad?

After 2.5 years my PBG4 was acting weird, constant hanging, restarts, and screen ghosting. Delivered the unit to my retailer, and next day recieved a phone call...ram needs to be replaced. Uh? my 1 gig was no longer. The good news was that apple ram has a lifetime warranty and all was fixed no charge.

Any others having this experience. Oh and 2 weeks later my harddrive died. Replaaced under applecare, most stuff backed up, but what a pain installing all the software again.

I'll be waiting for the new intel powerbooks seems my machine is working tooo hard.

Yup. RAM will be killed dead by cosmic rays. No, I'm not kidding. If an energetic one manages to pass through your RAM, it's almost certain to blip one of those tiny elements that store a bit. It's the one thing they're really susceptible to. Utterly completely random, too.

    Thanks, Kick.

That brings back fun memories of giving that explanation to service customers - "it could have been cosmic rays, really no way to know for sure" - and marveling at the expression on their faces.
