Needed: blogging/on-line-calendar solution...

I?ve recently volunteered to start overseeing a mailing list with around 500 addresses. The list is used to send out weekly ride listings for my local mountain bike club. The club president is a bit overworked and I figured it would be easy as long as I get a good system set up for distributing the information.

What is the best way to manage a list of this size? I?ll be managing it mostly from home on my mac but anticipate needing to make quick fixes from my XP box at work.

Also, to supplement this email, I want to start posting the rides to a web page as well. Are there any quick tools for easily doing this? I?m assuming that some form of automated blogging, web-calendar, or forum software might do the trick.

Here is a sample, part of this week?s ride list:

So basically, I'm looking for easy ways of getting this info out to around 500 people.

Any suggestions are welcome. Any software out there that would make my life easier?

Have you thought about using yahoo groups or topica for this?

I was looking at google or yahoo groups. Thanks for the heads up on topica.

After reviewing these. I'm leaning toward google groups. They have the least extraneous stuff on their web pages. Are there features of topica which makes it worth the flashing gifs and ads everywhere? Just signing up I must have looked at 200 ads!

I subscribe to lists on both yahoo groups and topica and I find them both equally annoying. Those sponsored links are a pain.
