windows xp virtual pc question
Back before windows xp came out I purchased a xp professional 180 day evaluation copy.
Does the timer work with virtual pc....was just curious if virtual pc has a virtual registry too
I am currently running windows 98 se and wanted to evaluate the performance difference with xp.
Im not even sure how buggy the xp evaluation copy is because I never used it after purchasing.
any comments would be appreciated, Scott

The eval copy will be time-limited on VPC as well.
VPC works well to run minor exe apps ... it is NOT meant for gaming or photoshop and such. Java apps are painful on it.
If you really need to run such things in an XP environment, you'd be better off buying an eMachine for $399
My Windows Pc broke down on me so I decided to switch to Mac.
At the same time I was doing a University course which I had to run JBuilder4 for Windows. So instead of buying a cheap PC as well I decided to buy the Virtual PC. It works fine but very slow.. Great to brag that you have two operating systems on your Mac to all other Windows users but like I said it's very slow and you realise how crap Windows is!
Buy only if you must.
You mentioned you want to evaluate the performance difference between 98SE and XP... Well.. 98SE is likely to run faster as it's not nearly as complex as XP... but XP will be much more stable. If you do decide to go with your XP Pro evaluation copy... be sure to do your updates immediately afterwards. You mentioned you have an evaluation copy that was provided before XP was released... that was quite a while ago and there have been major updates in that time.
