After doing ''software Update'' I have lost the use of my Preview aplication, clicking on any jpeg will not open and message ''error code -1712'' shows up.

can any one help me?
Does Preview launch properly at all?
If not, was the Preview application in it's default location before you installed the update? If it was moved, the update would result in a faulty app.

Thanks for your prompt responce!
Yes I belive that Preview launches properly as it apears in my "Dock". When I do click on a JPEG I only get a quick flash and then like nothing happened, double click again and I get the same error message.
I've also "Repaired Permissions" from Disk Utilities and nothing still.
Try moving Preview's prefs to the trash. They can be found if you go to your user folder > Library > Preferences and it's named something like com.apple.preview.plist
If that doesn't work, you will have to try reinstalling the app. You'll need to use Pacifist to extract the app from your Mac OS X install disc.
