Hallelujah! I can finally upgrade to Tiger now! I've been waiting...and waiting...and waiting on Avid to finally support XPress Pro for Tiger so that I can switch OSes. Looks like that's finally the case.

Linky to Avid's announcement.

Anybody else been holding on to Panther for Avid to catch up?

I am no pro, but from what I have seen, FinalCut along with the rest of the suit seems like a much better value than Avid, so why is avid so popular today - that is what makes it better than FCP?

Apple has certainly given Avid a run for its money in the digital video editing realm, that's true. As a positive thing, it's forced Avid to sharpen its pencil and be more competitive because it's not the only game in town anymore.
