iPhoto and USB card readers

I am having trouble using a Sandisk Imagemate Compact flash Reader, which iPhoto says it supports. It doesn't even come up in OS X. I have to reboot to OS 9 to download my pics. Suggestions?

    Do you have the latest drivers? I remember one card reader having problems do to a driver problem and that a driver update has recently been released.

    I looked at Sandisk's Website for a driver. No OS X ones of course. My model the SDDR-05b, no eject button, they say doesn't work at all under OS X,. That however the SDDR-05a with an eject button does sort of work under OS X.

    So do these people just sit around and let Apple make all the drivers for mass storage devices under OS X?
