MOO 3 only a few months away!
For those of you who have played the Master of Orion series, take heart, the newest version is going to be release in only a month or two.
best part is, it looks to me like they've been working on the Mac version alongside the PC version!
that means that for the third time i know of we have a shot at a simultanious release for games. specs don't require much, but doesn't look like it's OSX enabled.
oh well, check it out if you don't know the series. the game rules.

And I am SOOO looking forward to Moo3. I really like the concept of the design ideas they've used.

Macgamer.com's Future releases area says it will be OS X compatible. I'd be very surprized if any commercial publisher ever releases another game that's not OS X compatable, the question now is wheither games are OS 9 compatable, not OS X.
MOO3 looks good. I've never played any of the others but I've played a lot in that genre, got MOO2 recently but didn't display correctly (I assume it was because of my Nvida card, when my new G4 comes in next week I'll try it, perhpas it'll work well with the ATI card ...)

it looks like Macsoft is doing the development though.
has anyone else noticed that thier ports tend to have serious speed issues?
every time i play one of their ports, even a fast Mac has issues playing an old PC game. like MOO2 was slow on a 300 Mhz G3, and only needed like a 200 Mhz PC to run.
just wondering, never got why they didn't port decently. you'd think that with that much time to work on a game, you'd be able to get the speed right.

As for your graphics card, it shouldn't matter in the slightest, because it uses absolutely no hardware rendering. I'm thinking that all of your problems are because of not having the patch. Let us know in either case.
BTW-I thought the speed was totally fine on my PB G3 266, and the game was playable on my 5260/100 (and barely ANYTHING played well on those beasts!).

X704, the version 1.0 release of Moo2 had some graphical quirks. Stop by www.versiontracker.com and look for the latest update. It fixes lots of stuff. It's a must-have if you want to play that game.

Thanks for the Tip, unfortunately I already applied the patch & it didn't work (it fixed some of the glitches but made new ones to replace the old ones ... totally unplayable). Anywho, I still need to try it on my new PM (just got it yesterday!). If anyone wants MOO2 I have 2 boxed version, be happy to send one out to someone (got them both free from gogamer.com when I ordered other games).
If it's not the GPU, perhaps it's the OS? Anybody able to play it with 9.22?
it sort of runs on my win2k machine, but i have no sound effects. guess that's what happens when win95 was the newest PC OS out at the time.

the graphics are happy, i have sound effects, and it's way faster than it ever was on my old powerbook from work.
