iTunes or iPod

All of a sudden I get a message when trying to update either of my iPods (4G 20GB, nano) saying the disk can't be read from or written to. The 20GB has worked fine until today, but the nano has never successfully hooked up.



I've done al the typical resettings and all that crap. Any ideas?



edit: I should add I'm trying to do this using iTunes 5 on my brand new iMac (had for 5 weeks now)

    mysteriously, it has decided to work properly after first uploading photos onto it and then going back and moving playlists onto it.
