I upgraded from 512 to 1.5 gigs of RAM and the difference was astonishing. I also work with Photoshop and iPhoto a lot and have about 12,000 pics in iPhoto. With 512, it was spinning ball all the time. With 1.5, i haven't seen that ball for some time now.

It is easy to install. Real easy. The instructions are in your iMac manual. Just have a screwdriver available.

You're confusing RAM with your Hard Drive. Your Hard Drive has all of your files stored on it. It's got a lot more than 2 gigs.

RAM is the short-term memory that allows you to run programs, and if you have more, then you can run them faster.
