Apple advertises! Oh my god!
I had to do a double take this morning while reading the Sunday paper. I came across a Ipod Nano ad in the back of the sports pages. Full page ad. Same photo as on apple's site. Very plain and simple. Is this the apple we all love and hate. Not some evil doppelgager. Not an alien clone. Apple discovers advertising. Who would have known? Normally apple relys on carrier pigieons to spread the word. Now, if they'd put as much effort in promoting the mac.
Apple advertises! Wow! Must be a new day or something?

I'm in Chicago this weekend, and all the underground 'L' stations have nano ads. Pretty nice.

Apple ads are everywhere... where have you been the last 20 years?
We're talking full-page or double-page ads in the likes of, Time, Newsweek, Forbes, The Wallstreet Journal, The NYT...
Also multiple advertisements in primetime every single night on every single netowrk...
Recent non-iPod campaigns were for the iMac G5, Tiger, and Mac Mini.
It seems a pretty recent phenomena to see such ads for the iPod and iMac/mini on TV and I get a little excited when they show every so often (sad I know
The iPod shows up in print just about everywhere and in every type of publication you could think of and now Joe Public doesn't talk of "MP3" players... they're iPods! (even though the actual device they are looking at may be made by another manufacturer). Now that is what I call market dominance
I can only rebut comments about the lack of Apple's advertising in the US. Apple's north american advertising is certainly nothing new.
Now i'm left wondering... is the perceived increase in advertising abroad correct? More input!
edit: Now that I think of it, I've seen some ads for Tiger earlier this year. But I still can't recall Apple advertising any of its computers.
