Now that I have your attention, and seeing that it has not yet been reported on AppleInsider web page, I feel confident that I can inform y'all that...

.Mac has been upgraded to 1gb storage/ 2gb family pack and some other goodies.

*no comment on other updates at this stage except i can confirm .Mac updates as reported also by Tuaw.com

*slaps head* sorry peoples, this should go into Applications forum and be merged with one or two other threads on this. my apologies.

Any new PowerBooks, Powermacs, iMacs, iPods, Monitors, Mice, iVibrator or am iDumb for waiting this long for anything new that's Apple because I'm addicted to gizmos. Aaah .Mac who cares about .Mac, I want a shiny thingy and want it now! Ok, raves over, so hows the new AMD working out for yah. I'm thinking about building one for myself, I just fell in love ubuntu Linux and I?m looking for a machine to accommodate it.

AMD is frackin awesome. Get a socket939 board, nVidia nForce chipset, start off with a Venice core (excellence overclockability and hence value-for-money in my mind) ... then later on you can move up to one of the dual core AthlonX2s ... not sure about Ubuntu 64bit but there's 64bit linuxes around when you want to get into it. One word of warning is the wifi PCI card, stupid dlink doesn't make any 64bit drivers, so i cant ndiswrap that... and i had to ndiswrap the dlink ver1.0 driver for it to work stably.

but yeah the AMD is rockin on linux, even the nVidia 6600GT (its fun to play quake2 on linux at 16xAA 16xAF 1280x1024) overclocked with a Linux gui util called nvClock.

    AMD + nVidia chipset + nVidia videocard + HalfLife2 (winxp2)

= the next level of first person shooters. amazing.

IMO i don't know WTF the deal is with FarCry. its rubbish. HL2 gameplay and graphics have an 'eloquent synergy' about them. AND it supports SLI really well. (i'm still using 1 GPU only at the moment though)

oh but don't use the AMD stock cpu fan+heatsink (i am using the stock cpu fan to blow on the southbridge heatsink) ... get a nice Zalman "copper flower" thing. you gotta go copper with your cpu cooling
