Still, if it works it could be a significant leg-up for Apple in the field.
Apple has to show that not only does its hardware scale for these projects, but that its OS does as well.
More importantly, it has to show that its level of support for these kinds of installations scales up as well, something that Apple has failed to show in the past.
This project will be looked at very closely by the industry. While its success will be looked at positively, a failure could be a significant setback.
Apple has to be careful here. They also have to be careful that this company really has the skill, business acumen, and resources to carry this off. $4 million is a very small amount of money for a company in that business. Potential customers have to be persuaded to not be turned off by that especially considering the confidential nature of the business.
I hope the backgrounds and qualifications of those mentioned have been properly vetted by Apple so they aren't embarrassed later.
