Is there a way to lock files and/or folders? So that no one can see them while on your mac without using ownership and permissions?

Any Help Appreciated!

I just use a disk image with a password on it to hide files away. Use the disk utility in the applications folder.

Open Disk Utility > New Image >  pick Size / Encryption / Image Format ( I prefer - sparse bundle disk image )

I don't recommend keeping the password in your Key Chain , so only you would know the password. Put the Disc Image in a folder and then place the folder in a discrete file /category. Don't forget your password or you won't be able to access the Disk Image.
