Finder and Safari crashes

My computer has been running tiger fine for a few months now, but all of a sudden my finder doesnt seem to work, it has become sluggish and sometimes just has the computer sit there with the bouncing finder icon and the waiting pinwheel. It fails especially when i try to open safari and when i can get it open and hit the red x on safari it exits the entire program, especially when i have more than one window open. by the way i did search the archives and found nothing to help me. thanks for any help.

    I have similar issues and have found that rebooting does the trick.
