Mac the Ripper on a combo drive

Hi, this may be a stupid question, but I'm in the market for a notebook, and am looking at the 15" powerbook. I already have a iMac G5 desktop with a superdrive; I don't really need another superdrive for the powerbook. But, can I use Mac the Ripper without a DVD-RW drive? If I can rip movies onto my powerbook hardrive, that's all I care about.

Thanks in advance

Sure. The important thing is that your computer can read a DVD, not write to one.
