Installing an app from a restore disk w/out the OS
Hello all-
I posted a question in this thread looking at this problem from another angle, but I think this might be the way I want to go about it, if I can.
To make a long story short (or at least try): I just bought a six-month-old Power Mac G5 on eBay. I am planning on moving all my apps and data over from my old computer, a G4. The system restore disks came will put OS 10.3.5 on the G5. The G5 has a built-in DVD burner, and thus also came with iDVD. The G4 does not have a DVD burner, and thus did not come with iDVD.
I have a commercial version of OS X 10.4, and what I'd ideally like to do is make a totally fresh and clean install of 10.4 onto the G5, and then use the setup assistant to import all my stuff from the G4 over. However, my fear would be that in doing so I would lose iDVD. Is there any way to install iDVD from the install disks that come with the G5 without installing OS X?
Thanks in advance,
jf
