eMac for school video editing
hi All,
my school is looking into buying their own digital video editing facilities for a course they teach. i have seen some advice on how the eMac would stand up to this, but that was on an old 1GHz 32VRAM version. we are in India, so import duties make any Apple expensive, an eMac would set us back about 1/3 the price of a PM G5/Dual 2GHz.
has anybody any experience with using the eMac for editing in a non-Pro environment like a school? any reasons why we should absolutely get the PowerMac at over $US3000?
hope you can give some advice on whether the eMac will serve us well. we are looking into buying the full Apple Pro editing suite, so that should be taken into consideration, too.
thaks and cheers,
arno.

Have you considered getting the iMac G5? Price-wise it's in-between the two models, but has a faster processor and more video memory for the applications you need (same video card as the eMac, though).
If you do get the eMac, I'd suggest SuperDrive, 160GB hard drive, and 1GB RAM (probably better to upgrade that yourself).
You could still find it in local dealers, but that's about it.

Wrong actually.
He wants to buy it for a school. Schools can still buy them.
