What does MPEG-2 decoding mean exactly?

Can I assume QT 6 will let me play DVDs and movie files from DVD disks?

Will QT6 replace the DVD Player app?

No, you will still use separate app for DVD playback.

MPEG-2 is basically highend video... for production houses, etc.

When I was at NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) last year in LasVegas I talked to some Apple QT Engineers and they specified that You will not use QT player for DVD because of some liscensing issues and copyright problems, etc. Unless the situation has changed in the meantime, then I would be wrong

The weird thing is that it took this long. Last April, at NAB, Apple showed off MPEG-4, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 playback without a hitch. Guess those ISO standards are really a bitch.
