PCI Express video card soon? X850 retail?

I'm a bit confused on what to do here.

I have the stock 64mb wanker card in my 2004 G5 Dual 2ghz. So i have the PCI Express slot.

I am looking to upgrade my video card to support my ADC 23" HD Studio Display.

If i go nVidia, then I need a $200 adapter. ATI has the X800 that looks good, but it's still AGP. And even though there is an ATI X850 available as a built to order on Apple, it's not available for retail.

ATI just announced their new line of X1K family, but no news or movement on Apple line.

Any info, rumours, insight on the best solution?

thanks

I just realized that PCI-X and PCI Express are not the same thing. Doh!

I think i'll wait for the X850 to go retail... if it ever will.

What good is a PCI-X slot for?

PCI-X is used for card that exceed the bandwidth of regualar PCI. Like high end video cards or multiport Network cards.
