so we have an 1.2 768 ibook that shuts itself off when the battery goes dead. no ten minute warning, no falling asleep. when you plug it back in and turn it on the clock is reset... but it quickly sets itself to the correct time. it's no longer under warranty. anything i can do to fix this?

Well, this happened to me and my iBook G3/700, under Mac OS X Tiger. Trying seeing if the correct options are checked under everything listed in the Energy Saver Control panel. I also updated my 'Book. Install all security updates too. I'm not sure what fixed this problem, but now it just forcefully goes to sleep.

If you find the afflicted checkbox...sorry I'm at work on OS 9, try checking/unchecking it again, and then click "Show all Panes."

    Hope this helps.
