What's the Apple return policy when new hardware is released after purchase?

Folks have posted before that Apple has an official return/upgrade policy when new hardware is released within a few days of a user buying a model.

My housemate just bought a new 15" powerbook, unaware of the rumors of imminent upgrades (possibly 7448?). Wondering if she has some recourse if new PBs do arrive next week.

(Sorry to post for such a simple question. Tried searching for the answer, but couldn't find it.)

May sound like a commercial... but results may vary.

    Sales and Refund Policy

    Click on "Prices."

This may apply only to products that see price cuts (for example, if you bought a Cinema Display and Apple dropped the price two days later). I don't know that they would apply this policy to new or revised products, unless perhaps they were selling the discontinued models at a discount in the Sale section.

Basically, it's pot luck. Sometimes they will stick you. Sometimes they'll lick you.

Thanks for the prompt info, folks! I'll try to pass the 14-day word on to my housemate before she opens the box.

Sounds like Gandalf got lucky even with an open box.
