In Cringley's recent speculation about the video iPod, he mentions that DVDstation has announced that you can plug your vPod into their kiosks and download a HD movie in 90 seconds. The iPod becomes the means of transport to take the movie home. It's an interesting idea that may work, for a while at least, during the format war for the next DVD standard and the wait for much faster internet. Should Apple consider kiosks like this? Or maybe even acquire DVDstation? Apple could also sell songs and allow listening to longer samples in such a system. While they are at it, make each an Airport hotspot with free access to Powerbook toting .Mac members.
